Terms & Conditions – Term Memberships
DEFINITION AND INTERPRETATION
In the Terms & Conditions, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context otherwise requires:
‘The Centre’ shall mean the ‘Sports Schooling Centre for Movement’.
‘Members’ shall mean all members in possession of an active Term membership and shall, if appropriate for observance of these Terms & Conditions, include their spouses, children, guests and other persons under their charge.
1) ELIGIBILITY
1.1 The Term membership is open to the public, upon payment of the Membership Fee and Registration Fee.
1.2. Any change in a member’s eligibility status may result in an immediate termination of their membership without refund
1.3 Members shall present proof of eligibility at any time when requested to do so by Sports Schooling and the Centre.
2) OPENING HOURS
2.1 The Centre premises and facilities shall be open during such hours and subject to such conditions as Sports Schooling may from time to time decide.
2.2 Any changes to the opening hours of the premises and facilities shall be published on the Centre’s website on a reasonable efforts basis.
2.3 Members shall not be entitled to any refund due to changes in the opening hours of the premises and facilities.
3) CONDUCT AND DECORUM
3.1 Use of Premises and Facilities. Members and their guests shall, at all times, use the Centre’s premises and facilities in such manner so as not to interfere with the reasonable comfort of, or be a nuisance to other members of the Centre and so as not to damage or possibly damage the Centre’s property. They shall duly observe all reasonable requests made by the Centre in that behalf. The Centre shall be the sole arbiter as to the reasonableness of such a request.
3.2 Gambling. Gambling shall not be permitted within the Centre’s premises unless authorised by Sports Schooling and approved by relevant authorities.
3.3 Members’ Property. The Centre shall not be responsible for any loss or theft of any article or property of any member whether left in any locker or elsewhere in the Centre’s premises. Members shall not be permitted to entrust any articles or property to the care of the Centre’s employees.
3.4 Centre’s Property. No property of the Centre shall be removed from the Centre’s premises without proper authorisation. There shall also be no unauthorised tampering of the Centre’s equipment. Members removing or damaging the Centre’s property shall pay the Centre the cost of making good the same. The cost shall be assessed by Sports Schooling, whose decision shall be final.
3.5 Dealing with Centre’s Employees. No member shall give any gratuity to any of the Centre’s employees, unless it is through giving to a fund officially authorised by Sports Schooling. No member shall induce or attempt to induce any of the Centre’s employees to leave the Centre’s service for whatever reason. No member shall personally reprimand any Centre employee. A member may report the unsatisfactory conduct of any employee to Sports Schooling. Any harassment of the Centre’s employees by any member or member of the public either by words, actions or electronic modes of communication, may subject the member to disciplinary action by Sports Schooling. The member or member of the public may be reported to the police where appropriate.
3.6 Use of Carpark. Vehicles are parked at the carpark at the car owners’ sole risk. The carpark’s lessor/ landlord/ Centre/ Sports Schooling shall not be held responsible or liable in any way whatsoever for any loss or damage to any of the motor vehicles or any other property placed or parked in the carpark due to any cause whatsoever. This includes but not limited to theft, damage or other misdemeanour to vehicles while parked in the carpark. Sports Schooling/the Centre/lessor/landlord of the carpark and their agents reserve the right to amend the General Rules and Regulations of Carpark as and when necessary, without any prior notice.
4) CHILDREN
4.1 Members shall be fully responsible for the conduct and behaviour of their children and other children visiting the Centre in their charge and shall be liable to the Centre in respect of any damage or injury howsoever caused by the children. Members shall keep the Centre, Sports Schooling, its employees and agents fully indemnified in respect of any action, claim or demand arising due to the act or default of any of the children.
4.2 Children below 12 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a member or parent at all times.
4.3 The Centre/Sports Schooling (including its employees or agents) and its operator or representatives may, at its sole discretion, are able to request members and/or their guests or children who are found breaching any of the Terms & Conditions or other rules of the Centre, to refrain from such behaviour or leave the Centre’s premises.
5) MEMBERSHIP CARDS
5.1 The Centre shall, upon demand and subject to the payment of the prevailing card deposit fee, issue a membership card to each member. Membership cards belong to the Centre and shall be returned to the Centre when requested to do so by Sports Schooling.
5.2 Membership cards are not transferable and may only be used by the person in whose name the card is registered.
5.3 Members shall carry their membership cards at all times while in the Centre’s premises and shall show their membership cards when requested to do so by any member of Sports Schooling or authorised employee.
5.4 Members who lose their membership cards shall report the loss to the Centre immediately and apply for the issue of a replacement card for which the member shall forfeit the card deposit previously paid and be charged a card deposit for the replacement card, such sum as may be decided by Sports Schooling from time to time.
5.5 Any member found using a card fraudulently or dishonestly or having unauthorised use of a card, may be handed over to the police and/or be subjected to disciplinary/legal action by the Centre. The member shall be liable for all legal and court fees and disbursements due to the actions taken by the Centre and shall make good any losses and damages incurred by the Centre.
6) SUSPENSION OF ELIGIBILITY
Notwithstanding Article 1.1, any membership found in violation of the Terms & Conditions may be suspended from further membership applications, for a period of up to 12 months or longer as determined by Sports Schooling from time to time.
7) TERM DURATION & FEE
Membership fees may be prorated only in the first term of membership. Subsequent memberships shall be on a per term basis.
Sports Schooling may, in its discretion, change the duration of a term and the fee may be determined by Sports Schooling from time to time.
8) TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP
Memberships are strictly non-transferable and non-refundable.
9) NTU STAFF, UNDERGRADUATES AND NON-MEMBERS
Sports Schooling may allow members of the public, staff and undergraduates of NTU and such other categories or persons to use specific areas of the Centre’s premises from time to time, and such permission may at any time be revoked by Sports Schooling at its sole discretion.
10) FACILITIES AND USAGE – GYM
10.1 All members using the gym shall ensure that they have undergone a thorough physical examination and have their physician’s approval for the appropriate exercise regime. Any exercise undertaken shall be at the member’s own risk.
10.2 The Centre/Committee (including its employees or agents) and its operator or representatives shall not be liable for any damage, loss, injury or death howsoever caused.
10.3 Children aged 12 and below will not be permitted in the gym. Children under 16 years old are not permitted to use the gym without proper supervision by an adult.
10.4 Persons under the influence of alcohol shall not be permitted into the gym.
10.5 Users are reminded to return all equipment to their respective places after use. Under no circumstances shall any exercise equipment be removed from the gym.
10.6 A member who is responsible for the loss/damage of the equipment in the gym shall bear the cost.
10.7 No person is allowed to tamper with the electrical switches and gadgets in the gym.
10.8 The following activities are not permitted: smoking, sleeping, littering, unseemly behaviour, vandalism of gym facilities or equipment.
10.9 Users of the gym must be properly attired. Suitable attire includes shorts, T-shirts or tank tops without lewd or offensive messages, sweat suits, leotards, tights, sports shoes and other suitable attire as Sports Schooling may from time to time decide.
10.10 The Centre/Committee (including its employees or agents) and its operator or representatives may, at their sole discretion, request members or members’ guests who are found breaching any of the rules to refrain from such behaviour or leave the gym.
10.11 A member is only allowed to bring up to two (2) guests per day.
10.12 Private and/or commercial coaching is strictly prohibited.
10.13 All users of the gym shall comply with such additional rules as may be imposed by Sports Schooling or the operator from time to time to regulate the use of the gym.
11) FACILITIES AND USAGE – SWIMMING POOL
11.1 No persons suffering from any infection or contagious disease shall use the swimming pool.
11.2 Nothing whatsoever is to be taken or thrown into any pool, except articles permitted or approved by Sports Schooling. Inflatable rings, toys, balls, face masks (except eye goggles), flippers and other floating appliances are not permitted except during periods of training classes conducted by The Swim Lab.
11.3 Members and guests are not permitted to:
- Smoke in or within six feet of the edge of the swimming pool
- Bring or consume of food or refreshments in or near the edge of the swimming pool
11.4 The swimming pool may, from time to time, be used in part or in full for swim classes conducted by The Swim Lab. During such times, members are required to remain within the designated areas for members.
11.5 Members are advised in their own interest to leave the swimming pool during heavy rain, thunderstorms and when there is lightning, and shall do so as and when requested by the staff on duty.
11.6 Children under 16 years shall be accompanied by an adult, who shall maintain strict supervision and control over the children. Dressing and undressing of children shall be done in the changing rooms allocated to the respective genders. Children below 5 years old may use the changing room appropriate to the gender of their accompanying adult.
11.7 No child shall be allowed in the swimming pool area except in the company of an adult who shall take full responsibility for the child’s safety.
11.8 A member is only allowed to sign in up to four (4) guests per day. Guests are restricted to the member’s spouse and children only, whose names must be pre-registered at the time of membership application.
11.9 Private and/or commercial coaching is strictly prohibited.
11.10 All users of the swimming pool shall comply with such additional rules as may be imposed by Sports Schooling or the operator from time to time to regulate the use of the swimming pool.
12) FACILITIES AND USAGE – LOCKERS
12.1 Numbered lockers are provided in both the male and female changing rooms, subject to availability. Members are required to clear items stowed inside these lockers immediately after use on the same day. Overnight storage of items is strictly prohibited.
12.2. All lockers will be cleared by Centre staff at the end of day. Any items found will be kept at the NTU@one-north Fire Safety Centre, and will be disposed of after 2 weeks if unclaimed and without obligation to inform the member. Perishables, or any items deemed by Centre staff to be unsuitable for holding at the Fire Safety Centre, will be discarded the same day without obligation to inform the member. Sports Schooling/the Centre shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to items held at the Fire Safety Centre, nor for any loss or damage suffered as a result of the disposal of such items.
13) FACILITIES AND USAGE – PARKING
13.1 Parking privileges will apply starting the 1st of the following month, for all applications received before the 12th of the month (i.e. apply by 12 February for parking privileges to start 1 March).There shall be no proration or reduction in the Membership Fee due to any delayed commencement in parking privileges.
13.2. Parking privileges are limited to one vehicle per family. Families seeking parking privileges for more than one vehicle are advised to sign up for additional individual memberships instead.
14) FOOD & BEVERAGE PRIVILEGES
Food and beverage privileges may only be applied upon presentation of the Membership Card.
15) NON-LIABILITY OF CENTRE
The Centre/Sports Schooling (including its employees or agents) shall not be made liable or responsible for any injury howsoever caused to the members, their guests or children or for any theft or loss of or damage to any property of such persons.
Sports Schooling reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time without notice and without compensation. Members are advised to check the Centre website for the latest Terms & Conditions.
